Whatever the reason, Chevys have been appearing in movies and television for years and often steal the show. Transformers Have you seen the highly successful film franchise Transformers? Well, if you want to feel like you are part of the robot revolution, consider checking out a Chevy Camaro. Various models of the Camaro have been used in many of the Transformers movies, and they aren’t the old classics that can cost as much as a small country. Take for instance, the 2010 Chevy Camaro, otherwise known as BumbleBee. Everyone’s favorite Transformer, well AutoBot, became available as a trim in 2010 when Chevy announced the Transformers Edition Camaro as either an LT or SS version. Just like the movie, the special edition is Rally Yellow, complete with black racing stripes. The special edition includes Transformer badging, but there are also 2010s available without the Transformer package added on. Depending on the version you choose, you could be looking at either a 3.6L V6 or a 6.2L V8. The V6 produces 304 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. However, if you want exciting power and speed at your disposal, you’ll want to find a model with the V8 engine. The V8 produces 400-426 horsepower and 410-420 lb-ft of torque. Between its looks and its performance, getting a used Camaro will be a steal. Because BumbleBee is such a classic character in the franchise, it comes as no surprise that there would be multiple Camaros used over the years. The first Camaro used to bring BumbleBee to life was actually a 1977 model, which is a bit harder to find, at least in the bee yellow. It was later switched out for a 2008 concept vehicle designed around the time of the movie. The second movie is where we see the 2010 version, and a few movies later, they also use a 2013 Camaro. The 2013 model sports either a V6 or V8. Lastly, they used a 2018 Camaro for Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will likely be the easiest to track down and features more modern tech compared to the rest of the list. Unfortunately, finding a close match to the movie can be difficult, but there are many other color options and body styles that are just as attractive as the Bumblebee version. Stranger Things From the big screen to the small, Chevy has done it all. This time, it can be found in the hit television show Stranger Things. There were numerous Chevys on the show, from the Camaro (big shocker) to the Blazer. The Blazer shown is a 1987 Chevy K5 Blazer. A full-size SUV, the K5 is a powerhouse meant for the screen. The Blazer is available as either a manual or automatic 4×4 with a powerful V8. Due to its age, you aren’t likely to come across one of these exact models on our used lot, but there are plenty of modern Blazer models for you to consider. The 2021 Blazer, for example, comes with the choice of a 2.5L I-4, 2.0L turbo I-4, or a 3.6L V6 engine, up to 4,500 lbs of towing capacity, and a large 10.2-inch infotainment screen. We think the kids of Hawkins would love the new technology found in the modern Blazer. Drive and Pulp Fiction The Chevy Malibu is full of personality and style. An elongated frame and squared-off nose create a unique profile. It’s a memorable sedan, which is probably one reason it has been used on the big screen more than once. Drive features a 1973 Chevy Malibu. Originally a trim option of the Chevelle, the Malibu proved it could stand on its own two wheels. Available with either a V6 or V8, the Malibu of the past is a sporty and fun ride. The protruding front chrome bumper, narrow grille, creased hood, and matte color is now iconic thanks to working hard as the getaway car in Drive. Now hopefully, you don’t want to re-enact any scenes from our next movie, Pulp Fiction. We go a bit further back for this one with the stunning 1964 Chevrolet Malibu. Cherry red, white vinyl drop-top, and a side-to-side grille set this star apart. A V8 brings this cinematic masterpiece to life, complete with a Powerglide transmission. The Powerglide is a two-speed automatic used by GM. Again, while you are unlikely to find a ’64 or ’73 Malibu, there are plenty of practical Malibu models still hitting the road today for you to select from. NCIS NCIS featured a 1999 Chevy Silverado, not necessarily flashy but definitely a classic. The Chevy Silverado is as awesome now as it was then, and you won’t be disappointed with any used version of this model. The Silverado has been in many, many other television shows and movies, like Westworld, but it’s hard to beat seeing the original. Easy to repair, powerful, and full of performance, the Silverado is a spectacular truck whether it’s new, used, or over 20 years old. Plus, since it’s been used multiple times in television and films, it’s practically famous. American Graffiti The 1958 Chevy Impala is spectacular on or off the screen. It comes as no surprise that this particular Chevy was used in American Graffiti. From the hooded headlamps to the rear bullet brake lights and the chrome detailing, the Impala is a masterpiece worthy of being the main character in the movie. The Chevy Impala was recently discontinued by Chevy, so the only place you will find any of these exciting models is on the used lot. Another incredible Chevy used in American Graffiti was the 1955 Chevy 210. Becoming almost as famous as the man who drove it, Harrison Ford, the 210 is a symbol of Chevy’s innovation. A V8 gave heart to this performance-hungry car, which resulted in it becoming a nifty drag car. This may be surprising looking at it, though. The 210 drips with classy vibes and a luxury feel. The Chevy 210 ran until 1957, so finding one of these models is pretty unlikely, but if you do manage to see one in good shape, it will definitely be worth considering. You make monthly payments until your lease is up, at which time you return the car. Some lease agreements allow you the option to buy the vehicle, while others do not. Leasing is not for everybody. If you like the idea of getting the latest model vehicle and don’t care if you own the car, then leasing may be for you. On the other hand, if the idea of paying for a vehicle and not owning it sounds unappealing, then financing is the way to go. Additionally, leasing is not an option for everybody, and lease agreements come with clauses that dictate how many miles you can put on the vehicle, the condition it must be kept, etc., resulting in fines if these parameters are not met or are exceeded. Financing, What Does It All Mean? When purchasing a vehicle, you have two options, you can buy it outright with your own money, or you can finance it. Most people don’t have the ability to just buy a vehicle, which means financing is the best option to get a new or used vehicle that might cost more than you have in your piggy bank. Financing means obtaining a loan from a lender. Auto Loan Terms When discussing a vehicle loan, it’s a good idea to know what the terms mean so you know exactly what you’re signing. All loans are for a set term. The term is the amount of time it takes to pay off the loan. There are common time frames that most lenders offer. Short-term loans are typically 36 months or 48 months. A loan that is intended to be paid off in 3-4 years will most likely have higher monthly payments, but you will also save money by avoiding additional interest. If you don’t know what interest is, don’t worry, we will cover that in a minute. Now the most common loan term is called a standard term. A standard term loan is for 60 months. This is going to offer reasonable monthly payments and, depending on your credit rating, reasonable interest. The last loan term is long-term. An average long-term vehicle loan is usually 72 months or 84 months. This is ideal for people who need lower monthly payments. However, this option will typically result in more interest paid, so it can cost more in the long run. Down-Payments and Trade-Ins One way to lower your monthly payments without extending the term of your loan is with a down payment. A down payment is a specified amount of money that is paid at the time of purchase. Typically, the buyer will decide what they can afford to put down as a down payment. However, in some situations, the down payment may be predetermined. The ideal down payment is 20% of the vehicle price, but many people can’t afford that. 20% is said to be an ideal percentage because it offsets the initial depreciation that a new vehicle will experience. A trade-in is when you take your existing vehicle and “sell” it to the dealership in exchange for a set amount off the price of the new or used vehicle you are purchasing. Knowing what the value of your vehicle is prior to using it as a trade-in is a great way to go in with more confidence.
